Full Time Ecologist

THE PERSON
The ideal candidate will have three to ten years of experience as an ecological consultant and will be familiar with the NEPA process as practiced by either, or both, the Ohio Department of Transportation or the Indiana Department of Transportation. They will meet either INDOT or ODOT ecological and waterway permit pre-qualification requirements. Experience will include wetland delineation, wetland and stream quality assessments, and threatened and endangered species habitat assessments. Excellent written and oral communication skills, familiarity with standard office software packages, and the ability to work as a team member are important.
Experience in wetlands delineations using Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation Manual, applicable Regional Supplement to the Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual: Classification of Wetlands and Deepwater Habitats of the United States and Wilhelm’s and Masters’ Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA) Program is a MUST. Other required experience includes ability to evaluate streams using QHEI and/or HHEI indices.
Candidates with current ODOT or INDOT prequalification, or the ability to become prequalified, are preferred.
Our desired, well-rounded candidate will be able to prepare technical reports and proposals, coordinate and communicate with staff and clients regarding project status, maintain schedules and project budgets, and contribute to marketing efforts, as needed. Field work may include overnight travel within Indiana and neighboring states.
